Leaving the Familiar

To trust in areas where we think we cannot trust God is the ultimate test of our willingness to follow Him. There comes a time in every believer’s life God will require one to step out into the unknown, to take a leap of faith, to go out on a limb, it’s in these occasions it almost always defy’s our ability to reason or make sense of it.

As I was reading about Abraham today, he faced a similar situation when he was commanded by God to go to a foreign country leaving behind all the securities, all that he was familiar with.

In Hebrews 11:8 it reads: “By faith Abraham . . . obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.”

Later he was commended by God for His unswerving faith despite the overwhelming obstacles that he faced.

I believe God is a God who loves to show out when it comes to defying the odds, accomplishing the impossible, operating in the supernatural, and amazing us. Yes, we do serve a big God, not one that is confined and limited to our own understanding or our ability to figure out what He is doing.

He is a God who is more than capable of accomplishing His will in our lives, he deserves our trust and obedience. If He could create the world in 6 short days, I believe it is enough to believe He can figure out how to work out the details of our life and order our steps accordingly.

So, I ask you, is God calling you to step out in faith and trust Him. Psalm 31:15 says, “My times are in your hands.”

Stand firm in knowing God has you in His hands and if you know Him as your Savior He won’t let go of you.

Don’t fear or step back from what He has appointed you to do. Today is the day of decision.

God is asking you to believe that His power will equip you for what you are called to do. If He didn’t think you were ready He would not have chosen you.

The God who sees the beginning from the end, knows that this time of trusting Him in the midst of your doubts and fears is necessary preparation for His upcoming blessings He has for your life.

About Me

My name is Kim Brasher. I started writing back in 2015 not ever really believing I would go any further than just encouraging myself. As I have grown in my relationship with my Heavenly Father, I discovered writing is a gift I have, and as I began to share it with others the Lord encouraged me to go wider with it.

Thoughts to Ponder are just that, something to meditate over, something to consider. How does it relate to you? There is no right or wrong in your answer, we are all on a journey and we each grow differently at different places.

My prayer is that you will be blessed by reading and may you become encouraged. Please feel free to leave your feedback, as it is always welcomed.
