Several days ago, as I was headed into work, I observed the sun peeking through the trees, even though temperature was icy. It led me to the thoughts how everything around us can teach us things about life.
The trees, for instance, can teach us about the seasons from a mirage of colors they produce as seasons change, or the grass that appears to be greener on one side than the other, this is convincing when you see the cow poke his head through the fence line trying to get the greener grass, even the streets can teach us with the potholes or the rough patches, how it can be applied to the obstacles and the effects a situation can have on one.
There are many things that can teach us about life, but more importantly, it teaches us the character of God and his heart which leads me to Matthew 11:29-30” Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Although it takes man to plant trees to build roads, plant grass, there comes with them an infinite wisdom beyond what man can comprehend. It’s a wisdom that brings with it a vision. However, with every vision comes testing and distractions, but leaning on and learning from the Lord we can walk through those visions with a sense of confidence and accomplishment.
It’s easy for us to make assessment, pass judgment, even speak the impossible over something God has imparted.
Let’s use the roads for instance, you hit that pothole, and your immediate response is to be angered or upset at someone for not taking better care of it, don’t get me wrong, I’m not disputing better upkeep, what I am saying, it could be the roads have a natural wear and tear tendency too.
Roads can only take so many cars, trucks, tractors, and even the weather before it begins to wear out, the thought is…even roads, like us after time or even years will ultimately begin to show its weakness. Life and circumstances have a way of wearing people and things down, situations can convince us there’s no hope or possibility, but if we lean and learn from the Lord He will guide, he will teach us, he will take us through the heaviness of times making our challenges less heavy and easier to carry.
