How Are You Rooted

Once while on my travels to work my attention was caught by the trees along the path of the highway. I thought about the vast differences of them, some were still green, some had dead leaves, some were just branches, empty, bare, naked, standing before the heavens, It was such a great reflection to recognize the variances, recognize the differences between the types of trees, the shapes of them, the colors, and the transformation that takes place during the different seasons.

It’s interesting to me how God could be so precise, so detailed that he’d considered the natural environment of a trees life and the durability it needed to conquer the freezing, windy, snowy and even the extremely fire hot days and yet, somehow they manage to endure the extremities of all.

Shoot, I have plants on my front porch that will die if I don’t nurture them and/or give them water. I have to cover them in extreme freezing weather, I can over water and drown them. I know there is so much more that goes in depth to the life of a tree but for sake of time I will use what I have as my “thought to ponder” this week.

With this thought, it leads me to mankind, what is our durability? How do we become strengthened? How do we withstand the storms in our lives?

In Colossians 2:6-7 it reads, therefore as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

I think Paul was encouraging the believers to walk in Christ just as they received Him. So what does that mean?

Well, we are saved by grace through faith, so maybe it is teaching us that we should walk daily as Christian’s by grace through faith. We need to develop a daily walk of dependency on God. It’s in our daily walk with Jesus that we renew our minds and restrengthen our faith.

Psalm 1:3 says He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he will prosper.

As I meditate on this, I believe this is describing someone who delights in the Lord, someone who meditates on the word daily, someone who doesn’t get caught up in the havoc of the world, but instead lives life filled with the things of God.

It is someone who is firmly planted and rooted in the word of God.

This is where our durability will come from, this is what will carry us through the heavy winds and thunderstorms that pop up in our lives. God was precise in every detail missing nothing because He knew what it would take for us to become firmly rooted.

About Me

My name is Kim Brasher. I started writing back in 2015 not ever really believing I would go any further than just encouraging myself. As I have grown in my relationship with my Heavenly Father, I discovered writing is a gift I have, and as I began to share it with others the Lord encouraged me to go wider with it.

Thoughts to Ponder are just that, something to meditate over, something to consider. How does it relate to you? There is no right or wrong in your answer, we are all on a journey and we each grow differently at different places.

My prayer is that you will be blessed by reading and may you become encouraged. Please feel free to leave your feedback, as it is always welcomed.
