This scene was unfolding in the parking lot of a gas station. I was in the line of a Fast Food chain when I noticed to the right of me, the properties trash dumpster. It was overflowing to say the least, and was, what initially caught my attention. As I sat there and observed… I thought…man their trash is over flowing and it really does set an ugly scene….
What was more interesting were the number of buzzards that had captured the dumpster, and yet more were making their way to it. As I watched the birds roam around it, some fighting for what another one had….I thought how can they possibly find anything good in all of that garbage…..
Buzzards, are huge and relatively ugly birds, and if you’re not a bird lover then you may toy with the thought, buzzards are useless.
That was my initial thought but of course, if you know me, you would know I had to research it😊, so in my research I discovered, Buzzards, depending on the geographical area, can refer to different birds of prey within the raptor family.
These birds play diverse and important roles in the ecosystems across the country, acting as nature’s cleanup crew by scavenging dead animals.
This we know to be true because you will at some point in your travels see a buzzard or two on the side of the road, or in the middle of the road cleaning up carcasses. Sometimes they will fly off but then sometimes they merely move to the edge of the road waiting for the car to pass.
As I stated earlier there is nothing attractive about them. They are big, ugly and can be downright scary looking, but regardless they do have a purpose in our eco system.
Even in Matthew 6, Jesus talks to us about the birds..
He said: Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Now, hold on; I am not comparing anyone to birds but my point to this “Thought” is there are times I know when the struggle is real, the struggle of wether you will make it or not, the pressure of finances, the uncertainty of a job, the pressures of your children’s future, the struggles. can seem endless and overflowing, Most people I know have gone through the inner battle that goes back and fourth making you question, what good can come out of this, it makes you wonder if you can “trust God or trust yourself” you may go back and fourth debating the idea of wether or not you really even have a purpose?
Can I tell you, the Bible teaches us Jesus is the same today, as he was yesterday, as he will be tomorrow and he does have a plan and purpose for you.
It also teaches in Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
So, whether your struggle is set up for you to learn something, or it is for someone else….there is a purpose for it and a purpose for you.
I believe if you allow yourself to get caught up in the emotional breakdown of everyday challenges, it will steal your purpose.
So, I have to believe if knowing Jesus takes care of a bird as ugly and disgusting (no offense bird lovers) as a buzzard, I have to wonder how much more will he take care of his children? How much more will he take care of you and I?
Can you believe He created you for a purpose?

Good read, though I may fret about many trivial things and not so trivial things, as the flesh usually does, I know in my heart that God will bring me through it in the end. I trust in him more than people realize. Sometimes I still wonder what my purpose is, then that voice tells me, just live, love, care and be available for anyone who has a need, and let people know that God will be there for them, all they have to do is accept Jesus as their Saviour, ask for forgiveness and pray. I love your posts, as they serve to remind me, how precious a gift we have been given. Audrey Caswell
