On Earth As In Heaven

Over the past several weeks my mind has been intentionally focused on Matthew 6:9-13

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.

Taking verse 10 to my “Thought to Ponder” especially. “thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”.

No matter the frame of my attitude wether it be a bad moment, minute, day or tired, frustrated or irritated, or running into someone who themselves is having a bad day, my mind immediately goes back to “his will be done on earth…this means NOT MY WILL but HIS WILL.

So I’m thinking, if I know and understand what heaven is about, this petition is added to the prayer intentionally, for His righteousness, peace, and joy, (less of us, more of him) it must be established in our heart and then the provision is made for the fulfilment of God’s divine will.

God is good, wise, and holy; to have it fulfilled in and among men, is to have God’s goodness, wisdom, and holiness dispersed throughout the universe; allowing earth to be made the counterpart of heaven.

I am not saying we won’t have those bad days, but the revelation I received was to keep my mind focused upon heaven, trusting as the Lord teaches me to pray, that I will do his will here, as it is in heaven.

I can move about and walk around with that unspeakable joy, the joy that resides deep within my spirit.

I also don’t have to allow someone else’s bad mood affect my journey. If anything, the spirit of God should be so evident in me, that it would fall off of me onto the brother or sister allowing God’s peace to be restored.

Could it be the thought, that he would include verse 10 (for me) as a petition placed in my mouth so that I may experience His fulfillment?

Our souls can never be truly at peace, until our WILL is entirely subjected to, and become one with, the will of God.

I thought this was so perfect for ending today’s “Thought to Ponder”, I ran across it during my study time this morning.

FAITH, Our Father – for he that cometh to God, must believe that he is.

HOPE, Thy kingdom come – For this grace the object of good things is to come.

LOVE, Thy will be done – For love is the incentive to and the principle of all obedience to God, and is a benefit to man.

Challenge to consider:

1. What does your part of earth look like?

2. What could you change about the way you pray or think?

  2. I like this question! My part of earth (my field or work area) is a where the sad, disgruntled, irritated, lonely, people are – I am here to smile, bless, listen with interest an show concern and behind the scenes to pray for them, speak blessings over them and my change is to listen better.

My name is Kim Brasher. I started writing back in 2015 not ever really believing I would go any further than just encouraging myself. As I have grown in my relationship with my Heavenly Father, I discovered writing is a gift I have, and as I began to share it with others the Lord encouraged me to go wider with it.

Thoughts to Ponder are just that, something to meditate over, something to consider. How does it relate to you? There is no right or wrong in your answer, we are all on a journey and we each grow differently at different places.

My prayer is that you will be blessed by reading and may you become encouraged. Please feel free to leave your feedback, as it is always welcomed.
