Some time back I had an appointment with my doctor, and while sitting in the waiting room, I overheard two women talking about their time at the gym. One was sharing the story about another woman who had MS and the struggles she was challenged with every time she went to the gym. She said the lady was always talking about the healthy verses the unhealthy and was very intimidated by it. She felt like each time she went to the gym she would have to stir up the courage to go inside, because all she could see was the other bodybuilders working out, which pushed her to think; how they were all so much more healthier then she was.
In listening to this lady share this story I couldn’t help but interrupt (which was so out of character for me), but I excused myself for interrupting and stated how the friends mind was working overtime, especially above what her body was telling her. She was trying to convince herself that she couldn’t stand strong and be steady on her legs like everyone else.
I went on to tell her from where I was sitting it was very clear to me that she was already more healthy then any of those people in the gym simply by the fact that despite her condition, she made the choice to go, her circumstances was a tough one for sure but she made the decision to be at the gym, when in fact, she could have chosen to stay home and let her situation paralyze her and/or cause her to be depressed.
After more conversation with the two ladies, one asked me how I could see so positively about the situation. I shared with her about my own time of going to the gym 3 days a week and I too had my own battles of personal comparison that I had to work through, but faith kept me going. Faith to believe that I could become more healthy, faith to believe I could learn to eat more sensible.
For me, personally, I said to her; I see her faith being bigger than her mountain. There is something far greater in her and God is not finished with her.
By this point one of the ladies is in tears as we talked more about faith and God. She then begins to share her story of redemption and thanked me for being a reminder of what God has done in her life.
I guess we never really know when God is setting us up for a devine appointment.
I share this to point towards that mornings reading in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always! Pray constantly, Give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
We must intentionally CHOOSE to look to the Lord.
Our faith in God, and the victory He gives us is bigger than what we face.
When we are in challenges or sickness, we need to reach even deeper into the scriptures to keep our faith activated and alive, finding faith that is beyond understanding, faith that tells us there is a reason we are going through what we are going through, and faith that assures us, God will get us to a better place if our faith remains in Him. We might not be able to see where He is taking us but we know it’s going to be good!
Walking faithfully despite our circumstances, we are accepting God’s promise to take us into a place of victory.
Challenge today:
1. Is your faith bigger than your circumstances?
2. Are you letting your mountain get in your way?
3. Find your faith and make sure it is BIG, for God is bigger than any mountain in your way.
4. Let your faith be so big that you don’t climb the mountains in your life, you walk right through them.

With faith… failure is not an option. Things happen in life to test our faith, and some can make us want to give up, but God has a funny way of nudging us when he knows our heart. Thank you for this.

I love this! Being bold for Christ and allowing the Holy Spirit to lead you in speaking truth into a strangers life. God is bigger than my mountain. He created that mountain so He can carry us through it. I imagine the mountain full of briars and sticker burrs and see myself walking barefoot through the stickers, or putting on my shoes and navigating the smart way. Why do I wait until I am picking stickers out of my feet before I remember I have shoes?

I never thought about it that way but yes I guess I do. I want my faith to be bigger. Going through some things I have been through tells me there are times when my faith is all that brought me to where I am today.
