What Is Your Weapon

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if life didn’t offer us the trials and disappointments or “ENEMIES” that come against us. I’ve always considered myself to be a nice person, never wanting to hurt or trample over others, I believe myself to be a person of integrity, someone who believes in morals and value. So why would anyone want to come against me?

I know, I’m talking unrealistically, (or as my granddaughter would tell me…. really, Mimi) wanting to believe no one would have ought against me, when the truth is, we all have an enemy who would like nothing more than to take us down, make us feel as though we are the lowest of lows, he would love to break us.

Ephesians 6:12 reads, “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the POWERS of this DARK world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

When the enemy uses people in our lives to do his ugly work, it’s not easy to remember that the battle is a spiritual battle, in fact, it’s downright hard and it becomes very easy to look at the person directly.

We are told in John 10:10 the thief comes only to STEAL, to KILL, and to DESTROY. He has a mission to steal our hopes, dreams and desires, take our identity in Christ, kill healthy relationships, destroy marriages, deplete joy, deflate faith. His ultimate goal is to kill Jesus.

It is a spiritual battle that we all have to wrestle against. Does it mean things will be simpler to deal with if we recognize where the battle is coming from? Absolutely not, because even when recognized we still have to address the attack on our emotions.

However it does mean that our weapons to fight with are not to react with the weapons of the world, example: “I’ll just show them”or” I can counter attack with the same attitude and behaviors.” but instead of trying to get even, the weapons of God’s kingdom have strength to tear down strongholds.

Granted, we may have to have several talks with self and take captive the arguments that have set up within the mind that want to come against everything, exalting itself against the name of Jesus. We have to learn how to take every thought into captivity and counter attack with the word of God, making it line up to the obedience of His words and truth.

We must battle with spiritual weapons by speaking the name of Jesus over all situations sending the name of Jesus directly to the enemy.

  1. A person can beat themselves up emotionally for a lot of years thinking “What did I do?” and like you said get angry and want to retaliate, In time and with the help of a Christian church family and reading the bible daily with true commitment to the word, one can come to understand that phrase ” what would Jesus do”, for me it has been love them anyway, (I don’t have to like them or associate with them) but i do pray for them, as in the end the only one they are truly hurting is themselves. Thier words are simply evil inspired, but with the love of God and his son Jesus Christ in my heart, (Isaiah 54:17 and John 15:12-13)

About Me

My name is Kim Brasher. I started writing back in 2015 not ever really believing I would go any further than just encouraging myself. As I have grown in my relationship with my Heavenly Father, I discovered writing is a gift I have, and as I began to share it with others the Lord encouraged me to go wider with it.

Thoughts to Ponder are just that, something to meditate over, something to consider. How does it relate to you? There is no right or wrong in your answer, we are all on a journey and we each grow differently at different places.

My prayer is that you will be blessed by reading and may you become encouraged. Please feel free to leave your feedback, as it is always welcomed.
