“There is good Inside”

This is an older post that I pulled out this morning as I was meditating over starting up my blog again. Hope you enjoy😊

This afternoon when I got home from church and changed my clothes, I started on lunch. We had already planned for a ribeye steak yesterday so all I needed to do was prepare my sides. Of course I cheated in that respect because I already had a pan of fresh peas, sautéed cabbage, squash and tomatoes so it was really just a matter of cooking the steak.

About half way through the steak being ready I thought we needed a baked potato, of course I could split one between Larry and myself. As I washed my potato, there were a couple of bad spots, so I cut the small spot out and moved to the second one. As I cut the top layer of the bad spot thinking I am getting rid of it, I quickly realize the bad spot goes even deeper. I take my knife and begin to cut into the potato to cut the bad away but I see there is more rotten than I realized, this potato is not worth saving. As I walk over to the trash can, the Holy Spirit quickened within me.

I took the potato and placed it on the counter and continued to prepare a second one. While the potato is being microwaved (I know, cheating) the steak is nearly done. I walked back over to the counter to dispose of the potato and was reminded of James 5:9 that says for us not to complain, against others, so that we may not be judged, behold, the judge is standing right at the door. (paraphrased- look it up)

Now, I have to be honest, my very first thought was, Lord, did I judge someone today? I didn’t remember doing so but wanted to ask forgiveness if I had, but as I stood at the counter I decided to cut the potato in half. Guess what, it was not rotten throughout as I had thought it to be.

This made me think about people that are passed everyday in the community, people who may not live like some think they should be living, people who may not think like some think they should, how many times are people passed by that are thought not good enough, how many times is someone given up on because they aren’t producing fruit in their lives?

My point is, if I would have dug just a little bit deeper, I would have discovered that the potato I thought was rotten, was really found to still have good in it.

Let us ponder over our next encounter, when it is thought there is no hope for someone or maybe a situation appears to be pointless, just keep digging, keep pressing in because there is still good inside.

This is a great thought Kim! I always knew you were a deep thinker! We never know what the next person might be going thru at that moment! So glad that God gives us a discerning spirit to know when or what to speak to them!❤

We never know what someone is going through. There’s good in all of us. Thank the Lord he doesn’t give up when he finds the bad in us. He keeps digging to find the good. 😊

About Me

My name is Kim Brasher. I started writing back in 2015 not ever really believing I would go any further than just encouraging myself. As I have grown in my relationship with my Heavenly Father, I discovered writing is a gift I have, and as I began to share it with others the Lord encouraged me to go wider with it.

Thoughts to Ponder are just that, something to meditate over, something to consider. How does it relate to you? There is no right or wrong in your answer, we are all on a journey and we each grow differently at different places.

My prayer is that you will be blessed by reading and may you become encouraged. Please feel free to leave your feedback, as it is always welcomed.
