Yesterday evening when I got home, I did my usual routine: you know greet my husband, greet the dog, change my clothes, start dinner. While waiting for dinner to cook I was back and fourth in the word not really sure as to why I felt the need at the moment to read.
I was reading out of Matthew 4 about satan tempting Jesus. I actually had the opportunity to share it in the course of the evening, but as I continued to read the scriptures I read about Jesus being in the wilderness and hungry when satan went to him trying to tempt him to turn the stones to bread.
I don’t know about you but I have to admit not having ate for 40 days I would think it to sound like a pretty good meal. But Jesus said: man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. If you aren’t familiar with it I encourage you to read it Matthew 4:1-11. Scriptures continues showing us ways in which Satan continued to tempt Jesus as to which Jesus finally instructed him to be gone.
I want to go back up to verse 6 where satan reminds Jesus that if he was the son of God to throw himself down because IT IS WRITTEN that He shall give his angels charge over him and in their hands they would bear him up, lest he dash his foot against a stone. Now to be tempted from satan means to be enticed almost like a challenge. I like what verse 6 reads “It is Written”
My sharing this is because sometime in the evening someone called my husband and I could tell by the conversation that it was business related. After his call I proceeded to ask him what the call was about. It was from a gentleman who is going to come and look at our pond to break the dam on it so that it can be expanded. My immediate response was: how much is it going to cost? For those of you who know my husband numbers don’t cross his mind the same way that they do mine. I believe in shopping around because I believe that there are at times better deals depending on the situation of the want or need.
As I pondered over my next words, because in my house we have tendencies to argue over finances as to which I strive not to go there. But after a few minutes of sitting still I asked the question: when were we going to discuss it and as I expected I immediately put him on the defense. After a strained conversation I immediately could feel myself wanting to go on my defense but quickly remembered what I had just read in Matthew which pushed me to decide if I wanted to be tempted to going further into this argument knowing that the night would end on a bad note or did I want to remember that the Lords angels surrounded us and would bear us up so that we wouldn’t dash our foot against the stones of each others thoughts and emotions. I wasn’t willing to enter into it. The enemy comes only to kill, steal and destroy. I have a higher source that I can submit to and have His peace in it, and that’s what I immediately did, I asked The Lord to give me peace so as not to end the day bad. After he had his shower and a little time passed we did discuss the situation and came to an understanding in it. Peace restored:)
My “Thoughts To Ponder” today lead me to ask: are you tempted to enter into the tricks of the enemy, are you tempted to go along with the undone emotion, are you tempted to believe the worse….the angels of the Lord bear us up so that we don’t dash our feet up against the stones. Proverbs 16:3 says to commit our works to Him and our thoughts will be established. It’s hard at times to be quick to remember committing our thoughts and emotions but God is not a God who can lie….
So, how about it: Is God Growing You?
Blessings today…
