In my study this morning I was directed to meditate on Abraham and his faith. As I searched the scriptures I was reminded of the numerous things that God revealed to Him which provoked me into pondering over how his faith came to be so strong.
I ask you right now: How strong is your FAITH? Is it strong enough to carry you through the dark valley’s? Is it strong enough to give you strength to rise above the bad doctor reports? Is it powerful enough that you can pull down the stronghold’s or break the chains that bind you?
Lets look at some of Abrahams FAITH walk: It started when God called him to leave his country, away from his family, and his fathers house. God told him he would show him the land as to which he would take him. So…here he is having to leave everything that he knows, everything that he has been in tune with, secure in, to go to a place of unknown.
Next, we have Abraham arming his 318 servants to go and rescue his brother Lot. Again going into unknown territory ready for battle. Then there came the covenant with God that he would have a son of his own that would be his heir even while he was old in age. Then we read about having to sacrifice Isaac, his promised son. What’s so amazing about this particular trip of faith is while traveling those days, I can just imagine him having to fight off the thoughts he must have endured: I’m just a crazy ol man, people will think I have gone insane, I’m about to kill my child. I dare not to think of some of the mental battles he must have had to cast down, but I love how he reassures himself in verse 3 of Genesis 22.. He’s been 3 days in the journey and on that third day he sees the place up ahead of them in which he is to take Issac up to. He tells his servants to wait there with the donkey because he and Isaac would go and worship but that THEY would be back…next we have him entrusting his servant to go and pick a wife for Isaac. The Lord had already revealed to him where not to go and so he sends his servant to seek this wife, trusting that she would be the one. And what does the servant do: he asked God to give him success and show kindness to Abraham. He gave the Lord specific requests and it happened.
Now, you might be wondering the same as I did when I first started my study time this morning, how did Abrahams FAITH become so strong walking out the unknown only to be given a nation?
The answer is simple really: He walked by FAITH…..but PRAYER and his PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with the Father was what guided him…
Do you see it: PRAYER and RELATIONSHIP were the key..
We may more times than not walk into places of our lives that we are uncertain about and maybe battle the mindset, maybe battle the voices of others who aren’t strong in their faith but one thing I know for certain, we can stand FIRM and CONFIDANT in knowing that while in our personal relationship and allowing our prayer time with the Father, He will speak and guide us and in that he will not fail us nor will he go back on His promises for us…. Amen, Amen…
Blessings as you walk out your FAITH and PRYER life…
